New Studies Coming in September 2024

Much like Inigo Montoya in the classic film The Princess Bride, most of us hate waiting.

However, that is the theme I thought of when I was putting together the below collection of Bible studies that are coming from HarperChristian Resources this September.

The first to release is Megan Marshman’s Relaxed, a study on Proverbs 3:5-6. These verses encourage us to trust in the Lord, which, in my experience, entails a whole lotta waiting! Megan teaches in Relaxed how to have the posture of Jesus as we trust in the Lord.

The second to release is an advent Bible study from Christine Caine and Lisa Harper. Advent is literally about waiting. People in the first century were waiting for the coming of the Messiah the same as we in the 21st century are waiting for Jesus to return. Lisa and Chris tag team in this study helping us recapture the wonder of Jesus living with us.

The final release is appropriately Forever, the final volume of Passion’s Jesus Bible study series. This series (Beginnings, Revolt, People, Savior, Church, and Forever) looks at the six acts of Scripture and walks participants through them. Not only have we been waiting for this final volume to come out, we all are waiting for Jesus to return and usher in his Forever Kingdom.

Keep reading to learn more about these and more!

Relaxed Bible Study Guide plus Streaming Video: Letting Go of Self-Reliance and Trusting God

Dallas Willard had this great response once when asked if he could describe Jesus in one word. He sat back, took a breath, and responded: “Relaxed.”

As we know through Scripture, for Jesus to come across as relaxed doesn’t mean He didn’t grieve or get angry or feel the weight of the world on His shoulders; it meant He was never in a hurry to be anywhere other than where He was, trusting and obeying His Father’s Way.

Relax . . . Does this word describe your life? It can. And for those in Christ, it will. So what are you waiting for? Join Megan and walk slowly toward (and with) the relaxed life of Jesus. What do you have to lose? You’ll find out that it’s everything you’ve been hoping to lose all along.

Forever Bible Study Guide

You have a story. Your story had a beginning . . . a time and day when you were born in a particular place. And, though it’s a little unsettling to think about it, your story will have an end . . . a time and day when your life on earth will be over. This is true of every person who has ever lived.

However, for followers of Jesus, the story doesn’t end there. God has revealed throughout Scripture that the end of your life on earth is actually the beginning of a new life that will continue on forever. Furthermore, unlike this present world, your eternal home will be a place where “‘there will be no more death’ or mourning or crying or pain” (Revelation 21:4). It will be a place where you “will be with the Lord forever” (1 Thessalonians 4:17).

In the six lessons of Forever, you will explore what God has to say about this ultimate destination, how anyone who chooses the “narrow way” of Christ can get there, and how you should live in light of this promise from God.
